Dear Residents and Borough Employees,
I would like to thank all of you personally for your support of the Annual Glen Rock Fall Festival. This year’s street fair did not have the high attendance rate it normally does. In my own opinion, it was due to the 94 degree temps, a 4 day holiday weekend and the GRHS football team on a bye week.
This year was the Chamber’s first one since we have been back and operating again. Due to new changes on how events are run, plus a new vendor assisting us, there were many learning curves that we had to face. Many of them were huge hurdles and some were just learning a new way of doing things. One of the big concerns that participants brought up was the lack of crafters. There were a few technical reasons for this such as? reduce spaces and insurance issues.. These issues will be worked out for next year so more crafters can participate and we can have a bigger and better Fall Festival.
One of the things that we did add was a music stage in middle of it all thanks to Fair Lawn Park and Recreation! This year we had several local bands including our own Councilman Art Pazan on the drums with the band Streets and Avenues. The other local bands that played were None the Less: Glen Rockers Dan Salamon and Stephanie (Ferrari) Beaudoin, and the Bergen County Firefighters Pipe and Drum Band. These bands were a HUGE hit! Also, participants loved the fact that it was more “hyper-local”, showing support to our local retail and home-based businesses. Thanks to all the businesses that participated.
I want to especially say a personal thank you to Lenora Benjamin, Jackie Scalia, Chief Dean Ackermann, Sgt. Rob Wojtecki, Chief Tom Jennings GRFD, and the Glen Rock DPW. If it wasn’t for you none of this would have happened.
I have learned a lot, and am looking forward to creating a bigger and better Fall Festival next time!
