Glen Rock Boys Basketball opens 2017-18 season Friday at home vs. Manchester
Panthers looking to improve on 16-10 record from last season
The challenge for the Glen Rock High School boys basketball team will be replacing a trio of graduated players who were the backbone of a squad that finished 16-10 and advanced to the second round of the state tournament last season.
Josh Frissora averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds last season, and the 2017-18 Panthers will have to find a way to make up those numbers, as well as the production that Luke Nuzzo and Graham Reiss offered as well. Coach Jason Mittelman will look to seniors James Boisits, Matt Kopyta, Danny Mendelsohn and Zach Fazal, and juniors Colin McDevitt and Ryan Harris to lead the way to the top of the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference.
Mittelman’s goal this season is to “improve throughout the season,’’ and “be competitive,’’ he told Glen Rock News Today. The Panthers, who were second in the Colonial division of the NJIC with a 13-3 league record, open the season Friday at home against Manchester, tipoff time at 7 p.m. Two day later, they will play Randy Chave Memorial Tipoff at Ramapo College, squaring off against Ramsey at 3:45 p.m.
