Glen Rock Police Blotter December 11, 2017 and December 17, 2017
The Mount Arlington Police Department detained a 33-year-old Pompton Lakes man who was wanted by the Glen Rock Municipal Court on an active warrant in the amount of $1,289.00. The man was subsequently taken into custody by P.O. Pyatak and P.O. Stanislao who transported him to the Bergen County Jail.
12:36 PM – P.O. Doney, P.O. Holguin and Sgt. Wojtecki responded to the area of Prospect Street and Saddle River Road to assist the Fair Lawn Police Department with a reported dispute that escalated into an assault with a baseball bat. The actor, who had used an aluminum baseball bat to strike the victim several times following a verbal argument over a parking space, jumped in his vehicle and fled down Prospect Street toward Glen Rock. P.O. Doney observed the actors’ vehicle traveling on Ackerman Avenue by Rock Road and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The actor, a 29-year-old Midland Park man was taken into custody by P.O. Doney and was turned over to the Fair Lawn Police Department who subsequently charged him with aggravated assault and weapons possession.
1:31 PM – P.O. Doney was dispatched to the parking lot behind 252 Rock Road (the Pink Bank) on a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident. The victim, a Teaneck resident, reported that their vehicle, a black Honda, was struck while parked in the parking lot by an unknown vehicle. The unknown vehicle then fled the scene. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident and can describe the vehicle involved is asked to contact the Glen Rock Police Department at (201) 652-3800.
10:52 AM – P.O. Mattina and P.O. Pyatak responded to the parking lot of 208 Harristown Road on a report of a vehicle into the building. Officers found that the 65-year-old female driver out of Mahwah was attempting to park her vehicle in a parking spot at the front of the building. The driver accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake causing the car to jump the curb and land on a set of steps leading to the front door of the building. There was damage to the steps but no apparent structural damage to the building. The driver was uninjured in the accident.
10:57 AM – P.O. Surdyka, P.O. Mattina and Lt. Riggio responded to Cornwall Road on a report of a theft that had just occurred. The juvenile victim and his father reported that he was attempting to sell a pair of sneakers on Facebook Marketplace. When the actor arrived to complete the transaction, the actor grabbed the sneakers as well as his money back and fled in a vehicle toward Fair Lawn. The area was checked by patrol for the actor with negative results. The Glen Rock Police Department Detective Bureau is investigating.
