Struggles continuing for Glen Rock Boys Basketball team
Panthers mired in four-game losing streak, host New Milford Saturday afternoon
The nightmare season continues for the Glen Rock High School Boys Basketball team, as the Panthers suffered three more excruciating losses over the past two weeks and saw their record fall to 2-8 this winter. They will try to snap their four-game losing streak Saturday when they host 7-1 New Milford at 1:30 p.m.
The Panthers, who have yet to win a game in the NJIC (0-6), led by nine points at halftime in their last Tuesday at Eastern Christian, but could not hold the advantage and ended up losing, 46-42. Senior wing James Boisits, who had missed the prior game with injury, returned to lead the team in scoring with 12 points, while senior Danny Mendelsohn had 20 rebounds. The game before that was even more of crushing, as Glen Rock lost at home to Lodi, 56-54, when Lodi’s leading scorer, Carlos Peppin, hit a game-winning shot at the buzzer. Ryan Harris (13), Colin McDevitt (12) and Matt Kopyta (11) produced the bulk of the scoring in Boisits’ absence.
Next week, the Panthers have three games – away Tuesday at Pompton Lakes and Thursday afternoon at Manchester, and back home next Saturday against Garfield.
